Technical details

Corona Lines Ltd baseboard is a single sheet of 6mm plywood, A3 size (42cm x 30 cm). Underneath, four rubber door stops form the feet to raise the baseboard off the table.

The track for Corona Lines Ltd is OO gauge track from DCC Concepts. It is their Legacy track product, code 75 bullhead rail with wooden sleepers. The rails are stainless steel, which by the time of writing this page appears to be deprecated in DCC Concepts' newer products. This is only a good thing as far as I'm concerned, the stainless steel rails were very difficult to solder to, despite using their own recommended flux, solder, and guide. No doubt there are plenty of experienced modellers quite capable of getting the technique right, but as an occasional hobbyist, the couple of hours it took to make two good quality connections for this layout were the most frustrating soldering I've ever done!

Still - it looks excellent, even more so when ballasted and weathered. If their newer track is easier to solder to then I would definitely recommend it for looks, though I've not yet laid or soldered Peco's new bullhead code 75 track to compare.

The single circuit of track is DC-powered. The three "sidings" don't have functioning turnouts to the main loop and are unpowered.
