About me

I am Ben Mitchell.

I am a railway modeller, starting younger than I can remember through to the end of school age, then with a brief 20-year hiatus from the hobby through university and into professional life.

By trade I am a technology specialist with experience in embedded devices, network technologies, cyber security, and novel ways to interface the analogue and digital worlds together. I mostly steer clear of that for my railway modelling hobby time, though it comes in useful for radio control, DCC, and similar technology challenges.

My other hobbies include railways in 12" to the foot scale: both main line travel and visiting preserved railways; photography (often of the same railways); cross country running, and general technical geekery (keeping professionally and personally up to date with interesting technical developments in the world).

Please see the Onward links page for more information on these.
